The men of the Waikato militia's 4th regiment

Enrolments for the 4th Waikato were from January 1864 to February 1867 - seventy five percent of these being in the first three months of 1864 (January, February and March) in Sydney, Melbourne and surrounding districts.

Later enrolments, mainly in New Zealand, were generally transfers from other regiments or replacements for men who had been discharged or had deserted.

Airedale - Sailed from Sydney.

Bella Marina - Sailed from Sydney, arrived at Auckland 24 March 1864.

Claude Hamilton - Sailed from Sydney. Report in The Southern Cross, Thursday 18 February 1864. "Arrival of Military Settlers - Colonel Pitt, it appears, had gone on to Sydney, to enrol more men there, and he is to return by the 'Claud Hamilton' due on the 22nd."

Kate -Sailed from Sydney. On 3rd February 1864 Lieutenant William Steele reported that the "Kate" had left with the first draft of the regiment. Sergeant William Rudland was the drill instructor.

Phoebe - Sailed from Sydney.

Swiftsure - Sailed from Melbourne. go to Swiftsure notes notes for the "Swiftsure"

Thomas Fletcher - Left Melbourne on 3rd February 1864 with 73 men, 87 women and 107 children. Captain Alfred W East was in charge of these settlers.
